The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published a Notice in the Federal Register terminating arrival restrictions, effective September 14. These restrictions routed certain international flights to one of 15 designated airports. These restrictions applied to flights carrying persons who had recently traveled from, or were present in, certain countries.
The countries include China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau); Iran; countries in the Schengen Area (continental Europe); the United Kingdom (excluding overseas territories outside of Europe); the Republic of Ireland; and Brazil. With the lifting of the arrival restrictions, flights carrying passengers from those countries may land at any United States airport.
Lifting arrival restrictions only changes the locations where flights may land. It does not affect the travel and visa bans imposed by the President’s Executive Orders barring persons from the United States if they have been in China, Iran, the Schengen countries, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland; and Brazil. It also does not affect the global travel and visa bans imposed on most new immigrants from abroad, as well as to H-1B, H-2B, J-1 and L-1 visa holders.
