The myth, the man, the legend, Ron Klasko has not only been with the firm for 20 years, he IS the firm. Over 20 years ago, Ron and Bill Stock took a chance on starting their own firm, which has grown into what Klasko Immigration Law Partners is today: one of the top immigration firms in the country. Ron’s strong leadership has shaped what the firm culture is today. Read below for more thoughts on the past 20 years from Ron Klasko!
- What made you want to start your own firm?
The main reason I wanted to start a firm was to have a work environment where everyone would feel that their work was valuable and critical to the firm’s success and where the firm would be an enjoyable place to work. We were very successful at our previous firm, but people did not feel valued and did not enjoy the working atmosphere. I feel we have done a very good job of combining top tier client service with a working environment meriting our “best places to work” awards. - What is your current role?
My current role with the firm is Chairman. In this role, I am less involved in the day-to-day management of the firm than I was previously. I am more involved in advising and long-range strategic planning. I also lead the EB-5 and litigation practices of the firm, which are two significant growth areas and areas in which the firm’s reputation is at a very high level nationally. - How has your job changed over the years?
My position with the firm has changed from Managing Partner to Chairman. In my years with the firm, I have changed my focus from universities, to hospitals, and most recently to EB-5 and litigation. - What is your favorite memory from your early days at the firm?
Some of my favorite memories from the early years at the firm are our parties. I remember several of them especially fondly. What I remember is how everyone at our firm parties as friends and not just as professional colleagues. We really enjoy each other’s company. One of my favorite memories is when several staff members produced the movie called “Klasko Land” and converted the Klasko room into a movie theatre replete with tickets and popcorn. - What do you value most about working at KILP?
I value most that we have built a firm of which we are justifiably proud. The firm is recognized nationally as one of the top immigration law firms in the country. I also value that we have been recognized for 4 “Best Places to Work” honors. - What has been one of the more challenging times?
Without question, the most challenging time for our firm in its first 20 years was dealing with the pandemic, the effects of which we still feel. We have been able to do a good job of transitioning to a national firm with most people working in remote locations, but it has been and remains a challenge to maintain the chemistry and “sense of firm” that we all felt strongly when we saw each other every day. - Anything else you want to share?
It’s hard not to look back on the last 20 years without thinking how lucky I am. I get to work with talented and wonderful people who are dedicated to providing the highest level of service to our many appreciative clients. Together, we’ve really made a positive difference for so many people. I’m very proud to have this highly respected law firm bear my name. We are very poised for another 20 great years.
